How does Photo-Compression Therapy™ work?
The MIBU™ Lifting Mask is applied to the skin and used together with compatible red and near-infrared LED light therapy.
As the mask sets, three things are happening simultaneously.
Compression
The setting mask creates gentle, sustained pressure across the facial surface.
This pressure can influence the superficial tissue environment and support natural fluid movement. Cosmetically, this can contribute to less visible puffiness, smoother-looking skin and a more defined or sculpted-looking facial contour.
Oxygenation
The MIBU™ Lifting Mask contains a carboxy system that generates carbon dioxide, or CO₂, at the surface of the skin.
This works with a normal physiological process known as the Bohr effect. When CO₂ rises locally, haemoglobin releases oxygen more readily.
The treatment is not adding oxygen to the skin. Instead, it works with oxygen already being carried through the body’s circulation. Oxygen is important because cells require it for normal energy production.
LED light therapy
At the same time, the skin is exposed to red and near-infrared LED light therapy.
These wavelengths can influence mitochondrial activity and cellular signalling. Mitochondria are responsible for producing much of the usable energy cells need to perform their normal functions.
This adds a cellular element to the treatment alongside compression and oxygenation.

Once the customised lifting mask has been applied, the LED is positioned and you can simply rest while the mask gradually sets.
As it sets, you will feel the characteristic tightening sensation of the compression mask while oxygenation and LED light therapy are taking place simultaneously.
